Anonymous Prepaid Credit Cards for the Holidays
With the holidays coming up, consider anonymous prepaid credit cards for family or friends in need
Anonymous prepaid credit cards are fantastic holiday gifts (or anytime gifts, really) that allow your friends or family to save face and get some much-needed money. Let me tell you a little story. As a kid, my parents, through no fault of their own, lost their jobs. Our family struggled, and a close relative tried to give us five hundred bucks to tide us over.
To my parents, that was the ultimate blow to their pride. Not only did they refuse the money, they were angry at that family member for years. What was meant as a kindhearted gesture became a family rift.
Anonymous prepaid credit cards are perfect for these situations.
When to use anonymous prepaid credit cards
Let's face it: the economic climate suffers. A lot of people, through no fault of their own, face unemployment or pay cuts. And a lot of those people could use a helping hand -- especially with the holidays coming up.
Want to give a gift that matters, think about giving one or two anonymous prepaid credit cards, ideally in advance of the holiday season (to allow the recipient to put them towards Christmas gifts). Get the cards, pay them off in advance, and send it to the people in question without using any names at all (even theirs).
Why it works
A lot of people like my parents, would rather die than 'accept charity.' Their pride might be misguided but keeps them from accepting well-meaning gifts. Circumvent that problem entirely with anonymous cards.
People might bluster and get angry that someone sent the card, but you know what? If they need the money, they're still going to use it. And they'll be grateful, even if they never say thank you, even indirectly. True friends stand by you even when you're struggling. So if you know someone in this situation, consider using anonymous prepaid credit cards to show your support -- even knowing that you won't get any credit.
