Well, in this day of economic decline, credit cards are desperate to find new and reliable customers. They realize that more people will be relying on credit, and they also know that people are being more careful about what and how they spend -- meaning less interest and less profit.

But there's an up side to all of this bad news, and that's that the credit card companies are now competing for good customers. In other words, if you have a high credit score and a clean history, you couldn't pick a better time to compare credit cards and make a move.

Your current card might seem great, but you never know: just around the corner there may be a card offering lower interest, higher limits, and great incentives. You'll never know unless you do some comparison shopping.

There's no need to stress yourself out -- just search online for credit card comparisons. You'll find lots of great information that will allow you to align your current card against the competition and see how it measures up.

If you find that your card doesn't look so great when you see it alongside a few others, you have a few different options. First of all, you could try contacting your current credit card company. Tell them you've been working to compare credit cards and that you're considering switching to a new creditor based on what you've found. More often than not, they will make better offers to keep your business.

Alternatively, of course, you could just make a switch. If you do that look for zero balance transfer rates so that you can milk a bit of a lower interest payment (at least temporarily) out of the change.
